About

The Celestial Church of Christ Imole Jesu Tan is one of the branches of Celestial Church of
Christ worldwide. It was founded on January 6, 2000, by Venerable Sunday Ogundokun.
The church is under Ogun State Division of the Celestial Church of Christ. The name of the
church was revealed through holy spirit when our father, was serving as Assistant
Shepherd in another parish of the Celestial Church of Christ. Although he served diligently
and with distinction, while he was there, the holy spirit revealed to him that God has been
preparing him for an even higher calling and responsibilities.
On this mission, God showed him diverse visions on where the church would be sited, as
well as how the structure of the church would be. To prepare and equip himself on this
higher calling, our father in the Lord, Ven. Sunday Ogundokun, embarked on many months
of prayer and fasting, to the point that regular personal prayer and fasting has become an
essential part of his ministry.
With a firm belief in God’s revelation, he followed God’s direction, even in the face of
many challenges, until God delivered on His promises. Having been blessed with the piece
of land where the church is presently located (as revealed by the holy spirit), he
immediately started propagating the kingdom of God through street evangelism. It was in
one of such evangelism ministration that he was blessed with the piece of land to build
the church by the community leader, just as it was revealed to him by God previously.

Despite the fact that the entire Imedu Nla was like a forest and virtually uninhabited, he
cleared the land, cleared and created a footpath that linked the church site with the
untarred community road and held services in the open, without any structure or shade
to save people from the elements. notwithstanding there was a narrow way that links the
church with others two scanty houses in this area.
Despite these challenges and concerns of people about the location of the church and his
ability to attract members, he persevered and kept faith with God’s promises. To the glory
of God, his steadfastness and trust in God, started yielding dividends, such that within two
months, he had already attracted more than thirty devoted members. The church which
started with nine members in 2000, has grown rapidly with currently a membership
strength of over two thousand, five hundred members, worldwide.
With the help of God almighty, to the glory of the Almighty, he was steadfast and put all
trust in God. With the help of God Almighty, the church started gradual construction of
the premises. He started setting blocks for the church buildings, in order to protect the
members from the sun and rain and have a conducive environment to worship, exalt and
praise the name of Jesus. Just as the Holy Bible admonishes in Zechariah 4:10, that we
should not despise the days of little beginnings, to the Glory of God, the scanty block
works of the early days have now become the cathedral of today that comfortably sits 500
worshipers, with office spaces for the many departments of the church, including Media,
Choir, Prophets, Deliverance, Women, Youth/Teen Fellowship and Sunday School
fellowship, etc.
